The Martin family originated from Cork, Ireland. Immigrated to the state of Conneticutt in the United States sometime in the late 1700's. Then moved to the small Town of Lee in Oneida County, NY in the early1800's. They lived there for several years before moving to Whitley County, Indiana. It is thought that several of the children remained in New York. Upon arriving in Whitley County, they homesteaded about 500 acres where improvements were made and a house was built for the family of eight. Today, 211 acres of this originally homesteaded ground is still owned by the 5th generation Martins (Glenn & Bonnie). The lineage is:
